Restaurant La Chamade 90 Rte de la Plagne, 74110 Morzine
So very excited to be able to tell you that my first exhibition in Morzine is now open at La Chamade Restaurant, 90 Rte de la Plagne, 74110 Morzine, www.lachamade.com. The salle d’exposition is situated in the Bar à Fromage on the floor below the main restaurant which makes a perfect quiet viewing gallery.
I was so honoured to have had many visitors for the opening night and even more honoured to have sold some of my most colourful pieces to such lovely people.
I am particularly pleased that the intimate lighting in this space allows me to show off the vibrancy of the colours in my paintings, bringing the scenes alive and capturing the very feel of this amazing landscape.

Series of Trees
In this series of trees, what I try to show is the interplay of light and shadow through the trunks, branches and leaves to make you feel what it is like to be there at that time when the day was, and the time was, and the light was, just as it was. And I realise now that what I want to do is to draw the onlooker inside the painting, like being drawn into a story.
In the Woods behind Lac Montiond (far left), I want you to hear the leaves crunch beneath your feet and feel the warmth of the sun contrasting with the sudden coldness of the shade and to wonder what lies beyond.
In the Walk through the Woods, (centre left) even on this bright sunny Autumn day, there is cool and damp in the shadows and mud underfoot. The path leads enticingly further into the woods. A little Hansel and Gretel, a little Little Red Riding Hood.
In Beech Trees ( centre right) I love the silvery lichen trunks reaching away into the distance and the patches of heavy snow still left on the ground. Again a story comes to mind, a faun behind a tree in Nania maybe?
In Looking Up (far right) you are lying on your back looking upwards on a summer day, giddy with the perspective of the seemingly converging trunks and the complication of foliage above your head. There is probably a buzzard cat- mewing somewhere high up, higher even than the very tops of the trees.

I loved using bright colours in this series and I enjoy how a sudden swash of red or orange or brown here or there, becomes a thing – a trunk, a beech leaf carpet, a shadow- which emerges from the paint and draws the onlooker into the pictures.
My exhibition in Morzine runs for the whole of February at La Chamade Restaurant, 90 Rte de la Plagne, 74110 Morzine, www.lachamade.com. The salle d’exposition is situated in the Bar à Fromage on the floor below the main restaurant which makes a perfect quiet viewing gallery.
