About me
Nikki Risbridger

I am an artist living and working in the French Alps.

I was born and grew up near the Peak District in England and it was the raw, earthy beauty of the Pennines which impressed upon me a desire to capture a sense of that feral landscape. The big skies, the moody crags, the desolate moorland and the squat buildings. And the rolling greys and browns and greens of the boggy hillsides and moors and the skies behind and above – and a certain harshness of living and of the lives there, small against the hugeness of the natural world…

Exhibition of Peak District Landscapes

I am so excited to let you know that I have a new  exhibition of local work now on show at the fabulous Galley Café in Bakewell.

I will have a selection of work on display at the Gallery Café throughout the autumn and into winter,  some of which is also for sale in my online shop but please do get in touch.

The Peak District is a special place of bog and moor and rock and sky, with curlews and crows and sticks and mud. All my life I have looked at the rivers and pools and at the clouds and sky and wondered how you could ever capture how it all feels in paint. When I paint what I try to do is take you there so you can feel the solidity of the stone wall and the softness of the damp moss growing there and let you stomp through the mud and the puddles on the track.  I hope you enjoy the walk as much as I did.
